The Lebanon Optimist Club learned about the Lebanon Early Learners PEERnet program from Cindy Chambers and Krista Huffman during the January 13th Luncheon. The program is a partnership will all independent preschools in the Lebanon City School District and Lebanon City Schools. There are 8 Literacy Coaches who give hands on support to preschool staff. The program is designed to support preschool-aged children so they may enter kindergarten ready to meet the expectations of current Lebanon curriculum and are well on their way to achieve the third-grade reading standards. The program is seeking funds to purchase 7 iPads. For more information about the program contact Lebanon City Schools.

The Lebanon Optimist Club has an opportunity for a very easy “service project” connected with the Child Advocacy Center that we have supported for several years.
Each child that comes through the doors there for therapy, and family assistance is able to adopt a new stuffed animal from a selection at the center. The stuffed animals are dwindling and the Center could use additional donations of new stuffed animals. We have an opportunity to help by collecting new stuffed toys to give to the Center. Many have donated financially and we will purchase items with that, but animal donations are more than welcome too.
Look for sale prices, Kohls and Dollar Tree have stuffed animals available. If you would like to donate, please bring it to the next Optimist lunch (Sept. 9) or drop it by my house (711 Holbrook Ave, Lebanon…behind the Columbus Ave. LCNB branch). Would love to have 75 to take to the Center!
Thanks so much
