Officer of the Year 2016

The Optimist Club of Lebanon recently honored John Wetzel as Police Officer of the Year.  Officer Wetzel, a 16-year veteran, was selected for this award by his peers.  Wetzel is a second time recipient of this award.

“Officer Wetzel displays a quiet leadership and an exemplary work ethic,” said Police Chief Jeff Mitchell.  “These traits translate into outstanding skills in solving crimes, and set the standard for professional police work in Southwest Ohio.”

Every year, the Optimist Club of Lebanon awards a Lebanon Police Officer during National Police Week.  National Police Week was created by a proclamation signed by President John F. Kennedy to generate increased public support for the law enforcement profession, and as a time to recognize those police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice and died in the line of duty.

Congrats to Det Wetzel and thank you for your service.
